There's No Place Like Home

As I celebrated my birthday today
I shut my eyes,
clicked my heals three times
and repeated
"There's no place like HOME".
It comforts me like no where else
in this whole world.

Look into my Blender!

I'm redesigning my chocolate box, been sculpting a lot and finally it's ready for texturing! I thought I will give you a little sneak peak into my Blender ^^

Work in progress - Chocolate Box

Better than the current version, isn't it? :) It's always amazing how the quality requirements in SL change over time - a product that once was top notch, nowadays needs changes to get its popularity back... I don't mean just sculpties - look at the way skins have changed, or clothes. Crazy!

Anyway, I hope I finish the chocolates before Valentine's Day! I'm planning to re-write the scripts as well, so now it is a good time to give me suggestions for additional functionality of this item, if you have any!

PS. Show me your Blender (or any other program you use for sculpties)! I would love to see your work in progress - so treat it as a challenge! I'm hoping for some links ;)

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: GENOMER BY CI- LABO LOOSE FACE POWDER IN 9H2

Here's an initial review on GENOMER BY CI- LABO LOOSE FACE POWDER IN 9H2

PRICE: GIVEN AS A GIFT
PLACE BOUGHT: JAPAN
OTHER LOCATIONS ?

THE VERDICT:

This is my tita's pasalubong for me. She knows that I love make- up so much, so she gave me this one.

According to my mom, this brand is expensive. It's like Japan's version of Sisley or La Mer. My tita gave mom a Fac- I loose powder and a Dr. Ci- Labo foundation.

Actually, I don't really know these brands. They're new to me. But there's thrill in discovering make- up brands that I've never heard of before (except those sold in cheap stalls).

I can't find any links on the net that talk about Genomer, but ci-labo.com keeps on coming out in searches. Probably this is a product by Ci-Labo. I've seen a picture of Genomer's anti- aging line which targets high- income consumers so indeed, this make- up is expensive.

Anyway, mom said that the loose face powder is approximately 5k when converted to Pesos. 0.0 GEEZ!

So let's now review this. So what do you expect with loose powders? They're in fat jars and they eat too much space. All face powder tubs and jars are like that. so there's nothing we can do about it.

The shade is 9h2 if I'm not mistaken.

The texture of the powder is smooth because it is finely milled. It feels starchy, which is a characteristic of translucent powders. And the color pay- off of this is 2 shades lighter than my skintone.

It comes with a powder puff. I actually don't find puffs helpful in applying loose powders, because it gets concentrated on one facial area, as opposed to using a brush which helps the powder be distributed evenly to the face.

Here's the powder on my face. I actually thought that this would be too light for my skin tone, but it just disappeared into a translucent finish! It is unscented, and it glided like feather on my skin without the nasty, chalky feeling.

Coverage stayed for a day and a half on my face without the need to retouch.

This is my current love as of the moment. Good thing I've a few pressed powders to spare because I don't want to use this too much. I'll use it up quickly!

THIS WEEK'S HAUL+PASALUBONGS FROM JAPAN

Hello darlings! I'm so sorry for the lack of posts. I was literally in a state of hell last week. I had exams for the whole week, tough choreography for the play and doubling my effort in working out my character.

Anyhoo, I've had tons of hauls for last week. I wasn't able to include some of my pasalubongs from Japan here but here's are some of my hauls from Japan, courtesy of my mummy.

The first picture is me wearing an authentic kimono from Japan. This costed mom at around 2k. This will come handy in my profession. :)

FINALLY! This is my most favorite haul. These are Kabuki theatre masks. Each costs roughly at around 4k each and this is my ninang's gift to me. :) Ooooh! I'm soo happy! Though I've wished for Noh masks. But heck, these two will do! :)

Each mask symbolizes a character. FYI, masks are very important costume pieces in the theatre, especially to the Japanese. Prior to their performance they stare at their faces in the mirror with their masks on for hours because they believe that the spirit of the character portrayed by the mask will possess them which will enable them to deliver an excellent portrayal and performance. It's not just entertainment, it's discipline. That's what made me love theatre so much: the discipline it teaches its students are remarkable.

HAH! I'M HAPPY! CAN'T YOU SEE??? LOL...

And here's mom's cute pasalubong, a pretty minnie mouse make up kit from tokyo disneyland. :)

And here are my Folded and Hung Hauls. The white polo shirt is for moi, plus the pinstriped bow tie which I will use for my Theatre performance. And the plain gray shirt is my surprise gift for hubby and I's 31st monthsary together. :)

Piyao bracelet for money and business, and some wallet charms. Talk about trying to get all the luck I can get. :)

Avatars United

Something interesting has happened :) Linden Lab has acquired a Swedish company - Enemy Unknown AB - and their social networking site - Avatars United. And... everyone is happy about it! Residents are showing a lot of enthusiasm. Moreover, it seems the site has already become a hip place, within just a few days. So popular, that the '503 Service Unavailable' message shows up every once in a while because the server is overloaded. And it seems all up-to-the-minute avatars have a profile there.

I find it quite interesting, cause you know what happens usually :) Basically any move by Linden Lab is highly criticized by SL residends, whether it's fair or not. I think the upbeat reaction to this acquisition is quite remarkable and tell us a little about residents' needs. I'm curious how things will play out but this made me think about something else as well. This acquisition might be just one of many significant business decisions coming from Linden Lab in the near future. I'm not necessarily talking about other acquisitions but about decisions that will change Second Life as we know it - and I'm guessing it will be most harsh for long term residents. Something has changed - and that is the way Linden Lab look at Second Life. It's not 'our virtual world, our baby, our dear project' anymore - it's a product now. And a product should bring profit. This attitude is not bad, though - it will help Second Life stay on the market. The 'dear attitude' is good for beginnings, when the project is small... but if you don't change it fast enough, your project might fail, despite your best intentions. So I guess Linden Lab actions and residents' needs will finally meet, one day in the future.

In the meanwhile, feel free to unite with me ;)
