PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: MAYBELLINE LASTING DRAMA 24 HR. GEL LINER IN BLACK

Here's an initial review on MAYBELLINE STUDIO LASTING DRAMA 24- HR. GEL LINER IN BLACK

PRICE: AROUND 280- 330PHP

PLACE BOUGHT: PCX BOUTIQUE, POWERPLANT MALL, ROCKWELL, MAKATI CITY

OTHER LOCATIONS: ALL MAYBELLINE COUNTERS AND STALLS IN MALLS NATIONWIDE

THE VERDICT:

I apologize for not being able to post this review as soon as I got the gel liner. I keep on forgetting that I'm wearing this so I wasn't able to take any pictures.

Maybelline's gel liner comes with a gel liner precision brush which I like. Most commercial and cheap gel liners don't come with a brush so this is pretty worth the moolah when you come to think of it.

The gel consistency is whipped and it glides like a dream!  Once you dip the brush on the pot, a good amount of ink goes off with the brush. And one swipe is enough because the gel liner is quite spreadable!

Here's my eye with Maybelline's gel liner.

AFTER 4 HOURS...

A good amount of the eye liner is still there! I did not apply an eye primer on my lids to help the eye liner stay in place. For reference, I have very oily lids. And the staying power impressed me so much! There was a little smudge, but as compared to other waterproof gel liners and pencil liners that I've tried, this one is a cut above the rest! Without any eye primers on my lids, the liner still persisted to stay. I can pretty much see that there'll be no smudge if I have applied an eye primer before the gel liner! Other gel and pencil liners that I've tried, some even are high- end ones, didn't last as long as Maybelline did!

Overall, I love this gel liner! I'd alternate this with my Revlon Colorstay pencil crayon waterproof eyeliner (which is a fab product as well). Gel liners are recommended if you want to achieve a more dramatic eye- make up and eye lining. And if you have oily lids, no fear! Maybelline has finally formulated a gel liner for us girls with oil mine lids!

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: LUSH "HONEY I WASHED THE KIDS" SOAP

Here's an initial review on LUSH HONEY I WASHED THE KIDS SOAP

SITE DESCRIPTION (FROM LUSH.COM.PH):
Mouth-watering honey soap for washing you, the kids, the dog and the granny. Real honey hand and body soap to soothe and sweetly scent your skin.

INGREDIENTS (FROM LUSH.COM.PH):
Honey Water (Mel, Aqua), Propylene Glycol, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Perfume, Beeswax (Cera alba), Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus bergamia), Aloe Vera Extract (Aloe barbadensis), Sodium Chloride, Glycerine, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Titanium Dioxide,*Limonene, *Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate.

* Occurs naturally in essential oils

THE VERDICT:
This is probably the most mouthwatering soap I've ever smelt in my entire life second to L'occitane's Honey and Milk (?) line.

This bar is almost good enough to eat! Everytime I use it, it always reminds me of my favorite caramel, milk, and honey candy from my childhood.

This soap never fails to awaken my senses and lift me up every time I use this in the shower. The foam is also soft and frothy, which makes you feel really squeaky clean right after rinsing.

This honey scent does linger a bit right after you step out of the shower. However, I wish that the scent will linger longer because I like the honey-laced-with-caramel scent so much! It's sweet, but not overly sweet, which is the case sometimes with some honey/milk/vanilla/soaps that I've encountered.

And this bar doesn't dry my skin up unlike regular soaps. Lush soaps are organic, and they are made of the finest soap ingredients and essential oils. However, Lush soaps melt easily because they don't contain preservatives that commercial soaps have. And these preservatives are the culprits behind dry and flaky skin.

There is no doubt as to why Honey I Washed The Kids Soap is part of Lush's roster of best- selling soaps. I'm not really into buying costly soaps and bath products. So if I say that something is really worth splurging on, then it is really good!

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: LUSH "ROCKSTAR" SOAP

Here's an initial review on LUSH ROCKSTAR SOAP

PRICE: 495PHP (PRICE DEPENDS ON THE WEIGHT/KG)
PLACE BOUGHT: LUSH, THE FORT HIGH STREET, FORT BONIFACIO, TAGUIG CITY
OTHER LOCATIONS: LUSH OUTLETS IN ALL MALLS NATIONWIDE

SITE DESCRIPTION (FROM LUSH.COM.PH):
The creamy vanilla sweetie one. Here's a soap for all of us who know we ought to be attracted to sophisticated beiges and navy blues but can't help grabbing everything perfume. Cut through a big chunk and you'll find some little white soap stars inside; you'll find even more as you wash with it. Now get out there and sparkle!

INGREDIENTS (FROM LUSH.COM.PH):
Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua), Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Stearate, Perfume, Titanium Dioxide, Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Glycerine, Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, Colour 18050

THE VERDICT:

Here's a soap that's sure to keep you frisky all day!

This is also part of the roster of Lush's best- selling soaps. It's has a tangy, sweet, romantic, sexy, and happy scent that's sure to put you in a sexy, fun, and energetic mood.

Just like Honey I washed the Kids soap, this soap does lather up in frothy suds that's sure to make your skin feel squeaky clean.

One thing I liked about this soap is the staying power of the scent. It lingers longer than HIWTK.

One great thing about lush's soaps is the scent individuality. No two soaps smell alike, and no two soaps look alike!

Rockstar is indeed a great- smelling soap. Definitely worth splurging on!

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL IN FAITH

The Lenten season is coming. And I've always felt that there's a certain quietness everywhere whenever this season of reflecting and sacrifice is about to come. Just like Christmas. You know when its Christmas time because the air is chilly and the aura of the people and the surroundings are happy and lively.

I was in The Fort High Street with my mother, our house helper Gina, and Duke the Beagle. There's this event which is in accordance to the Lenten season. It's a ministry that organized an event which focuses on the different sacrifices that an individual has to offer during the Lenten season. It's in a "Station of the Cross" kind of structure. Actually, the actual titles of the Stations of the cross were used and were given different interpretations and meanings. There are 14 stations where each station reminds you of how Jesus Christ gave up his life for mankind, his teachings, and how we can embody his examples in our own ways. Per station requires an ACT, or a sort of reflection that helps you understand better the meaning and parallelism of a particular event in Jesus' way to the cross, with our own lives.

I've came across this station and what caught my attention was the tall structure made of wooden pillars, and nylon strings were horizontally attached in between the pillars. There were white notepads with different writings hanging on the strings.

This station is about Jesus' resurrection. And this is the ACT that this station is telling you to do. It asks you: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DID SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE?

I've always liked gimmicks where you have to write on something. My love for writing may be the reason why I am blogging. Be it a wall, a notepad, a shirt, etc. It just feels so good to be able to jot your thoughts and inspirations at the moment, and being able to reminisce them after a few years when you flip through the pages of your journal. I'm no writer. I don't know how to write poems, songs, novels, or plays. I just write whatever I want to write. It is one of the greatest expressions for me, apart from acting and singing. The importance of writing for me is like a photograph. Whatever idea, word, or phrase that comes out of your mouth should be recorded for when it is lost, it may not come again. Writing for me is creating a piece of history. It is in fact the basis of the histories that we know now! It doesn't matter if my own piece of history may not go as far as the next country, the next continent, or even the universe. It is enough for me to know that there is always something that will remind me of the past, and how it affected the present and how it can help me in the future.

Anyway, the notepads served as little prayer papers. You write whatever and whoever you want to thank, forgive, pray for, and hope for.

I hung two notepads by the way. One for my family, and one for me and my hubby.

The hearts symbolize my eternal love and never ending thanksgiving to my family, and even my dogs, who would always cheer me up with a wagging tail or a lick on the face. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Without them, I wouldn't know what I know now. I don't have a perfect family. In fact, I've always wondered what it's like to have a perfect one. But the imperfection has made me realize that perfection is not necessarily the way to happiness. The imperfections that my family has have made me realize and appreciate every little blessing. The imperfections are there to make the perfect moments sweeter. And that's what I've learned to embrace now. Spring time is more fulfilling when you've been through the toughest storms. And it keeps you looking forward to the next spring after the upcoming storms.

I've always thought that I will never find a soul mate. I've never believed in it either. I don't know if my strong personality factors in, but as far as I'm concerned, I've always felt that I'm better off alone.

And then I met Randy. The sweet gentleman who finally tamed the wild and liberated Martha. After the first kiss, everything else is history, and we're now getting married in 5 years. :)

So I guess it is true that you will really meet your match one day.And when God has decided that Randy is my match, well, all I can say is THANK YOU GOD FOR MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE!

I've never felt giving my life to someone. So the high school-ish and cheesy Randy loves Martha scribble just means that we will always be one forever.

My two notepads, along with the hundreds more hanging on the strings are all prayers and petitions for others, and by others. It is also a comfort to know that people are still united under one belief: That prayer is hope, and God provides the answer. And it is also good to know that even though the world is filled with anger, pain, and selfishness, there are still people out there who are willing to sacrifice.

I am glad that before I lay to sleep, hope springs eternal from within me. There is still hope for humankind.

Have a great week guys. :)

YOU GOTTA HATE SALE EVENTS SOMETIMES

So I set my day yesterday for L'oreal's Grand Sale at the Robinson's Equitable Tower, Ortigas.

I arrived there at around 1:30 P.M.. And to my surprise, the 23rd fl. is jam- packed with people! From men to women, all are awaiting in the 23rd fl. for the formal opening of the venue to the public, when in fact the venue should be opened at exactly 1 PM!

I've been to different Grand Sales: Lux Asia, MAC exclusive Sale, Shu Uemura exclusive sale; but so far, this has got to be the worst sale I've been to. EVER.

Okay let me present my points.

Number 1- It is freakishly hot in the 23rd fl. It was so congested and if you have asthma, you will definitely die in there 'cos of the heat. And if you have pneumonia, then congratulations, you have started an epidemic. There aren't any electric fans just to at least appease the customers from all the heat! I was already wearing a tank top, a pair of couture shorts, and flip flops. But I can still feel my sweat trickling down from my forehead. What more for those women in office wear and heels!

Number 2- The first come first- served system: Oh you gotta hate this. For Christ's sake. It's an open sale! It's not invitational even! So why won't they let people in??? The receptionist told me that they can only accommodate 50 people inside the venue. I came in as Visitor #124. So if you're #51, sorry, but you gotta come back the next day. It is so irritating, disappointing, and frustrating. I set my day up for this sale (I'm sure Visitor #51 until #123 did too) and this is what I'm (we're) gonna get? I've always expected these sales to open in the "Filipino Time" standard (and I am right indeed) so I came in at 1:30 PM. Is this a Wowowee kind of thing? They'd expect me to be there at 4 AM to fall in line? HECK NO. I've seen girls who came out of the building with droopy faces and talking in high- pitched voices which is a sign of a major ranting. They probably came from far places or might have given up some plans for this sale.

Number 3- You know what's more worse than the first- come- first- served basis system? They only allow 3 people per batch inside the venue. I'm pretty sure they can't give them a time limit. I'm sure these people won't take that!

And if you're just out for a lunch break, good luck. While you're falling in line, think of alibis to tell your boss regarding why your lunch break was for 3 hours!

And here's the problem with this kind of system: if you're number 50, good luck on whatever left- overs that you can find worthy of your hard- earned cash. You just wasted a good 1- 2 hours of your time falling in line for second- best stuff!

And you know what's worse than shopping for left- over stuff? BUYER'S REMORSE! You'll probably realize that you didn't really need what you bought. You just had to buy something so your wasted time won't be too bad (I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's really wasted).

AND THE WORST PART OF IT ALL:

Okay, if you signed in as #51, it automatically means you'll be part of the priority the next day.

I asked the receptionist if ever I come today, I'll be part of the priority batch 'cos we were asked to sign the log book for our names and numbers and were informed to return the next day

"Ay sorry po, 'di po ganun ma'm".

SO WHAT'S THE POINT OF SIGNING IN THE FRIKKIN' LOG BOOK?!?!?!

L'oreal's sale events should improve. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Great products, yet poor management.

And so as not to totally disappoint my day, I just went to Robinson's Galleria to stroll and searched the boutiques for something to buy so my Ortigas trip won't be a total waste of time.

And at least, this made my day. I've been on the search for a black tube top in this style. And I found this in the brand Loe and Co. from Robinson's Dept. Store. And it's on a 10% sale! How coool is that? Finding the perfect top on sale??? :)

And I got myself this cute Robinson's Dept. Store exclusive Mickey Mouse canvass bags. I always like the vintage Mickey better than the new one. I'd use this to store some notebooks, books, pencil case and some stuff 'cos I'm feeling that the handles of my Longchamp large tote is not in a very good condition...Jeez...

HAVE A GREAT DAY AHEAD!

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: BOOTS CITRIC ESSENTIALS STIMULATING BODY WASH WITH ORANGE

Here's an initial review on BOOTS CITRIC ESSENTIALS STIMULATING BODY WASH WITH ORANGE

PRICE: ?
PLACE BOUGHT: BOOTS, THAILAND
OTHER LOCATIONS: BOOTS STORES

THE VERDICT:

This is probably my most favorite body wash of all time. It has orange pulp- like scrubs that aids in exfoliating. It's not much of a body scrub but it's almost close.

The smell is truly invigorating! It's tangy orange scent rejuvenates the senses. It lathers up to a soft, foamy and luxurious wash that leaves your skin quenched, soft and smelling good.

This also happens to be mom's fave body wash too. And she got three bottles of this body wash.

If ever you'll visit or have a vacation in Thailand, don't forget to drop by Boots for their skin care, No7 make- up line and Soap and Glory Products!

PRODUCT REVIEW: SOAP AND GLORY MIST YOU MADLY BODY MIST

Here's an initial review on SOAP AND GLORY MIST YOU MADLY Body mist.

PRICE: ? (6 POUNDS IN THEIR OFFICIAL WEBSITE)
PLACE BOUGHT: BOOTS, THAILAND
OTHER LOCATIONS: HARVEY NICHOLS; SOAP AND GLORY ONLINE

SITE DESCRIPTION (TAKEN FROM SOAPANDGLORYCOSMETICS.COM):

A flirty, floral, fragrant body spray featuring notes of Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Magnolia, Freesia, Vanilla and Musk.

How do you do, it?
Spritz Mist You Madly™ on whenever you need a flash of fabulousness.

Mist Demeanor
Application of this mist may bestow the wearer with a newfound and haughty kind of self-confidence, triggering uncontainable fits of flirtatiousness. Mist at your own risk.

THE VERDICT:

I've been reading wonderful stuff about Soap and Glory products. So when I saw this from mom's get-whatever-you-like pasalubong bag from her trip to Thailand, I instantly reached for this one though it was a heartbreaking decision for her 'cos she said she likes the scent. But we could share this anytime. :)

Mist You is indeed a fun and flirty fragrance. The Freesia and Vanilla notes are dominant in the first spritz. It actually reminds me of a smell of a familiar perfume or cologne though. But heck! The packaging's all worth it!

I love the vintage print and style of Soap and Glory. It brings me back to the era of pin- up girls, silent films, Greta Garbo, Louise Brooks, Marilyn Monroe and the likes. Soap and Glory is all about the sweet vintage girl that's innately flirtatious and fun! And I'm one of them! :p

And the bottle is huge so you do get a lot for what you paid for.

But one major bummer is the staying power. My body chemistry may be partly to blame for this but this cologne lasts only for an hour or two. Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works' staying power are much better than this one. It leaves a scent but you can't notice it until you smell it closely.

Overall, I love the scent. It's an instant pick- me- up scent after showering. It settles to a fruity, floral scent with a hint of musk for that sexy appeal.

I'm craving for more Soap and Glory products! I actually want their other body mist which is Glam-A-Lot. If Mist You is for the extrovert, maybe Glam-A-Lot is for the introvert.
