Predictions for year 2011 in SL

I've never done any predictions like this, but this year I decided to give it a try. These are just a few thoughts of possible future of Second Life in the upcoming months.



Here's what I think:

• Teens on main grid will speed up economic growth
  They're young, talented, creative. It's only natural to expect they will focus on exploring SL's versatility and creative potential, and push the boundaries of what's possible in SL. I expect new milestones, comparable to the ones in the 'old times' that changed SL experience for better, like invention of AOs, skins painted on tattoo layers, and sculpted clothing.

• Viewer 3 will be introduced
  Either that, or by the end of 2011 there will still be a lot of people using Viewer 1.23 (if it is still supported, that is). Viewer 2 was a mistake, a very easy one to make though - with all the focus on new users and their ease of use, Linden Lab forgot about current users and their needs. I think LL realized this and most likely they are already working on a new viewer, but this time much more carefully - and hopefully there will be a lot of discussion with residents before releasing it. I also think a light viewer might be released for less computer-knowledgeable residents.

• Browser viewer will be open for everyone
  Open access to browser viewer and possibility of logging in with your own non-guest avatar, plus embedding locations on websites, will increase SL's popularity, the number of new registrations, user hours, user concurrency numbers and probably grid instability as well.

• SL will become more mainstream
  I think this year we will see a lot of movies inspired by Second Life, about Second Life or based on the idea of a virtual world. That, plus advertising (Facebook, YouTube etc.) will cause more attention from potential SL users, and investors perhaps. And with new residents entering SL community daily, press interest in Second Life will grow as well.

• A better IP protection system will be introduced.
  Content creators certified by Linden Lab, maybe? Easier reporting hopefully. Less paperwork. More cooperation from LL on this matter (no need to go with DMCA every single time, please!)

• New CEO will prove to be a good leader for Linden Lab and Second Life
  With the professional background he's got, I think Rod Humble will manage to gain residents' respect through his decisions. He seems to have a lot of passion for what he does and I think this year we might see a lot of decisions made with consideration of customers' point of view. Most likely he will still be compared to Philip, though.

• Gambling in SL will be back
  Oh no! But yes, I think it is going to happen, considering a few articles that appeared recently over the Internet. I just hope it will be done a different way than in the past, I don't want mainland to become a medley of casinos again. A gambling continent would be OK, I guess.

• New tools for managing inventory
  I expect new inventory management tools, possibly to come with Viewer 3: for textures browsing, for organizing stuff, for sculpties preview and so on.

• Anton Bogdanovych will release his motion capture equipment on the consumer market
  Pretty please :)

In summary I think SL will evolve a lot and change in many aspects we got used to, but it will eventually overcome problems and grow stronger on the virtual worlds market.

Playing With Angels Giveaway

This pair of

White Feather Angel Wings

were worn in a

Christmas pageant in France by a little angel who lost her wings~

And

they are for One of You!

Why?
Because we play with angels~

Those who know me know that I adore wings~
Especially ones lost by little French angels...
I want to share with you two of my treasured Christmas presents.
The wings above were my gift from one of my dearest friends, Lynn.
They were brought back from France by her friend. She always knows just what I love~

Old gold gilt layered paper, like rose petals applied by hand, one by one just like fish scales.
Each has an old metal hook to attach to the back of the alter boy alb.
They are 100 yrs. old.
They were worn in church ceremonies.
I Adore them everyday.

These darling wings are from my sweet friend Amy.

She found them in Paris at the Clignancourt flea market!

There were 4, she bought 3, she kept 2,

she gave me 1!

They are from the late 19th Century.
Worn in Catholic Churches for Christmas Pageants.
Old grayish white gauzy linen,
hand sewn thread stitching
slightly tattered in all the right places
&
So so so beautiful.
I feel holy just touching them~
I Love them so much.

So you see.... When you are given something that touches your heart in a way you didn't even know your heart could be touched that way.
You realize it is a moment.
A moment of being blessed by an Angel.
A moment that the gift of receiving from a friend is understood. It is not about the gift. It is about being loved by your friend.
It is understood that our life is simply a playground
to play with Angels~

MEET DENVER :)

Let me tell you about Denver.

I was in Cartimar, the everything and anything pet related place last Wednesday to buy a cage for the transferring of my cats from Makati to Taguig (where our new house is located). I passed by a small stall and saw a couple of Whippets. I was curious and I came up to them. Then a small cage with an over- sized Golden Retriever inside caught my eye.

I guess it was love at first sight for me and for the dog. In a small, cold, and damp cage is where I saw this pitiful dog. When I inserted my finger to touch him in one of the openings of the cage. His tail wagged and he started rubbing his nose on my finger. He is such an affectionate dog.

I never did plan on getting another dog since I have three. But my heart was literally broken when I saw the condition of this dog. And I even felt more sad when I heard his story.

This dog was owned by a couple who resides in Paranaque. When the two landed stable jobs, they didn't have time anymore to take care of the dog, so they decided to sell him. He's two years old and three months already. In fact, the couple was so busy, that they didn't get to give the dog a name!

Even if I was on a budget deficit, I shelled out cash with the help of mom, so I could give him a new home, and a new chance at life. When he got home, he got quickly got used in the household since he's house- broken already. And he's so happy because he has new friends (my Labrador, Dipstick, and my Beagle, Duke)!

And this dog always comes to me. He lies on my feet, sits beside me, and wags his tail at the sight of me. And he is such an obedient dog! I can even walk him around the village without a leash on his collar!

My lovely readers, I present to you, DENVER. :)

No more small cages, no more damp floors, and no more spoiled food. You're home Denver! :)

**Denver is at19kgs, and is underweight for an adult Golden Retriever. He has fleas when I got him, but I treated him recently with Front Line. He also has "Helium", a white film on his left eye, which was caused by hair piercing his eyes, and soap drying out inside his eyes after bathing. Cartimar is infamous for its below standard pet shops, where animals are caged in tiny and dirty cages, and they don't get the right treatment that they need.

I am very sorry for the lack of posts. My grandmother already passed away. I was depressed and I didn't feel like surfing the net nor checking my facebook.

But like what people say, LIFE GOES ON. And I am happy that she is in a much better place where there's no hurt nor pain.

The Seasons Hunt Winter has started!

Yay, winter edition of The Seasons Hunt has just started! There are fantastic gifts from so many talented designers! You can refer to hunt blog for full list of participating stores.



My gift for the hunt is Sleeping Basket - always ready when you need a quick nap. And dreaming is so sweet when snow is falling outside the window!





The basket comes with sleeping animator, which will make your avatar 'sleep' - together with snoring and zZz... particles if needed. And I also included an AFK sign to be worn when seated at the basket, to make sure no one disturbs your dreams ;)

The basket is hidden in a cute snowman, somewhere inside the store (you don't need to search the garden or the porch, it's definitely inside). And here's a little clue for you: "It's going to be a warm afternoon!" :) Good luck and happy hunting! ^^

Instalasi Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile

GPS merupakan teknologi yang sangat berguna untuk mengetahui posisi kita berada. Jika dulu teknologi GPS hanya terdapat pada device-device tertentu. Kini teknologi GPS pun sudah bisa di masukkan  ke dalam smartphone ataupun PDA.

Tetapi tentunya kurang maksimal apabila pada PDA kita hanya terdapat Hardware GPS-nya saja tanpa didukung oleh softwarenya. Salah satu software antarmuka untuk GPS yang cukup populer adalah Garmin Mobile XT.

Nah… disini saya akan memberitahu, bagaimana cara untuk menginstal Garmin Mobile XT di Windows Mobile.

1	Download Installer Garmin Mobile XT v5.00.20w disini
2	Lakukan instalasi dari komputer dengan menggunakan Active Sync. Ikuti instruksi yang ada. Lalu Soft Reset
3	Setelah boot dan masuk windows, jika diminta untuk menjalankan program pilih NO
4	Masuk ke file manager pada PDA, lalu pilih Storage Card dan anda akan menemukan folder 2577. Hapus folder tersebut
5	Sekarang masuk ke menu program pada PDA, anda akan menemukan shortcut Garmin Mobile XT. Jalankan Aplikasi Garmin Mobile XT. Jika muncul menu, pilih pilihan yang baling bawah “Connect to a Garmin GPS”
6	Lalu ikuti instruksi yang ada dan pilih “ I Agree” pada peringatan yang muncul
7	Pilih Tools è Settings è klik anak panah ke bawah dan pilih About
8	Catat informasi yang ada pada menu About Untuk PDA yang meggunakan Bluetooth GPS receiver gunakan “ESN ID” atau “CARD ID“ Untuk PDA yang menggunakan Internal Built in GPS (Kaiser, D810, Artemis) gunakan “UNIT ID” atau “CARD ID“
9	Quit program
10	Run garmin_keygen_v1.5 yang bisa didownload disini
11	Masukkan ID yang telah kita catat tadi dan klik Generate
12	Copy code (25 karakter) yang muncul
13	Buka file “sw.unl” pada Garmin folder di Storage Card dengan notepad lalu hapus kode yang ada dan ganti dengan code yang telah kita generate tadi
14	Jalankan aplikasi Garmin Mobile XT

Dan untuk peta wilayah Indonesia bisa didownload disini dengan mengikuti petunjuk yang ada.
Cara instalasi, jalankan aplikasi peta (navnet_grm_v161u.exe) yang telah kita download. Dan akan muncul file-file hasil extract, lalu copy kan semua file-file tersebut ke root folder Garmin di Storage Card.

Forever on My Mind

Imprinted forever on my mind

Recently hung in the front entrance are these props from a Chanel Fashion Show!

Someone that lives in the building works for Chanel.

They were given to her as a gift after the show~

I was so excited!

The adventure of discovery outside of our new "home"

was a gift alone....

even if it was just for a glimpse of time

in my life.

The ceiling in the Master bedroom.
I starred. I dreamed. I loved.

The wavy glass doors from the kitchen to the porch.
The long old French linen panels
that hung on the 17th Century floor.
I could look at all day long~

The lighting down to the old stone wine cellar
was warm & so beautiful, it actually talked~

The Master bedroom,
as the rest of the apartment is
a perfect marriage between both owners. Jean Bernard & Nathalie are husband & wife.
A 17th Century gold canopy found by Jean Bernard.
It is draped with the perfect color lavender-grey
antique French linen that Nathalie designed and dyed herself.

An antique oil painting found by Nathalie hangs in the bedroom.

Nathalie has an authentic eye. Jean Bernard knows how to make it all happen. They restore, they work & they laugh together~

My sweet husband sits.

He sits thinking.

And I know what he is thinking about,

because he asked me,

"How am I going to get you back here?"

I answered only,

"very soon". Another lavender dyed linen by Nathalie.

She covered this chair, it haunts me daily with it's perfection of color

&

it's imperfection of beauty~

The small village steps from your door is

It feels like Home.
