PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: GUERLAIN TERRACOTA LIGHT BRONZER IN BRUNETTE 02

Here's an initial review on GUERLAIN TERRACOTTA LIGHT BRONZER IN 02 BRUNETTE.

THE VERDICT:

I got this from a swap with Shai of makeupswapph.proboards.com. She only asked for an ELF Studio Line Blush. So to speak, I got this at the price of an ELF blush! Isn't that a great deal?

I'm not really partial to bronzers because I'm quite dark so bronzers would only come handy for me during summer. 

But this powder is quite different. It's sheer and light, so I think this will work well as a blush for me. For lighter skinned people, this will do as a bronzer but since this is sheer yet buildable, you can decide whether you'll use it as a blush or a bronzer.

Brunette 02 is the medium shade of the terracotta bronzer line. It gives off a beige- peach shade with hint of gold shimmer.

Let's go to the actual product. First, let's look at the packaging. I think if you buy a brand new one, it comes with a black suede pouch. Since this is second- hand, unfortunately, the pouch (if ever there is) and the box didn't come along with it anymore.

And the gold Guerlain insignia in front looks very sophisticated.

The compact has a bit of weight, but it's not bothersome at all.

In terms of texture, this is velvety- smooth. It smells like perfume, which is a characteristic of Guerlain products. But it's so light, unlike the scent of Guerlain meteorites.

In terms of staying power, it does hold up pretty well because I had to retouch only once during the day.

The first time I swatched Guerlain, the shade of Nars' Luster instantly popped in my head. So could Brunette be a dupe for the always sold out Nars Luster?

Can you tell the difference? I think the difference is, Guerlain is more sheer than the latter. But since Guerlain is buildable, you can achieve the same effect and color intensity of Nars Lustre!

UP: LUSTRE BELOW: BRUNETTE

I therefore conclude that Brunette is 98% dupe of Nars Luster, the best- selling and always sold- out blush shade of Nars!

THE VERDICT:

This lipstick came in as a surprise. I have never thought that my dream will come true because even I won't allow the dream to happen. Who would want to spend 2550php for a lipstick?

Well hubby does. He handed this to me when we met last Wednesday in his house in BF homes. I was all smiles and I jumped right out of his bed to hug him and kiss him like crazy (oops, a bit obscene? haha! :))

I asked him the reason behind getting this lipstick for me. He told me that he saw me one time browsing in my laptop and downloading an image of the Rouge G in my desktop. I was really considering getting it since I'm such a sucker for lippies but I whisked the idea away due to the price.

I even asked him why he chose the color. He just simply said that he felt that it was the right color to get and that red always looked good on me. And since it's a special season, he got a special color for a special someone. :)

Okay, let's now review my Rouge G. Let's start with the packaging.

GUERLAIN ROUGE G DE GUERLAIN LIPSTICK (23 GEISHA)

Here's a closer shot at the double- sided mirrors. I dunno the exact purpose of these two but it adds to the overall appeal of the packaging.

And it is indeed a lovely piece of make- up jewelry. The tube is quite heavy but who cares? Who wouldn't love having this in their make- up kit?

But be careful, a careless owner might end p scratching the pretty packaging. So yeah, that's a reminder for me. :)

And here's a closer look at the product. It's quite small, which is quite disappointing because this goes to show that you do pay for the gorgeous packaging, not for the product.

Geisha is a red- orange lipstick. It's predominantly red with a tinge of orange hue. It has a slight copper-silver shimmer that makes the lipstick glow and radiant. It also stands out and I like how it compliments my tan.

In terms of coverage, this baby is indeed long- lasting. It stayed on my lips after eating my Noche Buena. Well, it gets a bit wiped off but I can still see that some of the color still stayed on the lips.

And a little goes a long way. One swipe gives you a hefty amount of color so I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna do some spreading of the color during application so as to not use this up too quickly! :)

Look how it perfectly filled in the lines on my lips. And the color pay- off is the same as the lipstick color in the tube!

Would I buy this again? Probably not. Money is hard to come buy so I always favor wise spending. While this lipstick is very good, I think you just pay a hefty premium for the price tag because you get a gorgeous packaging out of your bucks. But after you use up the lipstick, what will become of the packaging?

THE VERDICT:

So I'm soo happy finally owning this shade. I was sort of regretting for not purchasing it in Shangri-La cos hubby said that he won't see me for a week if I buy it. Well, I also told him that I want him to help me save. But good thing, mom was able to get me one in Singapore.

OOOOKAY. SO IT'S THE SHADE IN 160. :P

The packaging looks very exquisite. It does look expensive so maybe that's why it's priced at 1550php here. Glad I got it at a cheaper rate.

It has a satin finish that feels velvety smooth once applied on the lips. It didn't dry my lips unlike MAC's Satin variant lipsticks. This has a perfume-y scent that doesn't bother me that much. It dries to a semi- matte finish and the staying power is very good.

I just fell in love with the rose shade. If I've found my perfect mauve shade in Laura Mercier, I must say I've found my perfect Rose shade in Guerlain.

So what consists of this Rose shade? It's an equal mix of pink and beige with a violet undertone which makes the lovely Rose shade. This is just my opinion if I'm going to break down the colors.

I'm actually done with my lemming for Guerlain. I have to admit that 1550php is too much for a lipstick so you could probably guess that I'm nowhere near purchasing one. Well, if I have extra cash, I might try another color but I'm super fine with my Plus Que Jamais Rose. :)
