How to Set Priorities as a Writer

Now on-line writing is tempting and it can be addictive. Some even manage te make a living of it. Here is on how I set my priorities.

First thing I ask myself is: do I want to produce quantity or quality. I started with the first, but kept not up.

Producing a lot of crappy articles does not make a living. Some good ones might not work

either, but I notice I do get more views on my more edited articles than on the ones stuffed with mistakes.

So learning to edit is what it takes.

Also do I keep in mind: Helium or Triond?

I used Triond here mainly as my trial and error blog to evolve as a writer and to train a better English. Helium I use more for competition to see my ranking and to see the effects of my efforts.

Why I link to my other articles? Can be the laziness of not wanting to repeat myself all the time.

Time is money. Spending too much on an article is not my main concern. It is underpaid and I do have some comments on why I consider my articles as my best draft that go out to the public.

What I read here people can read and comment for free. I just make an average of about 2 dollar cent an article and it takes me 30 min to write one. Compared to a plummer that charges 30 euro an hour, I do not think I can live from my writings.

Yes, I love to improve. Better articles are a better name card as a writer. Some I might fix, others that are not beneficial? I do not know. Leave then there are delete? Still not sure.

You never know if an article get views. I do prefer to keep the content more important than the style. People read it therefore and I do like to have a private life beside writing. I love doing it, but I also love other things.

And this is why I consider the novel I work on as my priority as a writer. My articles are free samples. People do not have to pay for reading what I spread here. Maybe that might be a motivation to give up my perfectionism at some point.

But when I do publish a novel, people will have to pay for reading it and I consider this a different level. I want a manuscript that might interest a publisher or an audience. When people are willing to spend for reading my work, I want it to be worth any cent they put into it. So I want it to be as good as I can offer and better than the quality of my on-line writing.

So I may write some slobby articles. I use then to train my skills and I consider them free samples with a promise that when they want the better product, it might not be free. Many companies work that way. It is a marketing tool. I need to get an audience and I use articles for that.
